Record restoration process is a very time consuming and tedious process. Also it require lot of equipments and number of process to complete. Whole aim of this project is to restore old Sri Lankan records back to it's original glory and store them properly. Once restoration process completed and stored. Our younger generation would be able to see the colourful history of Sri Lankan music. Most importantly they will be able to see the analogue days in it's glory. I require your help in this mammoth process in any way you can. Restoration process as follows in steps.
Cleaning and preparing records:
Cleaning process starts with following equipments and stages. First records get washed and vacuumed. Stage one washing done and vaccum cleaned by Audio intelligent cleaning solution No.15 and followed by No.6. Some very dirty records get washed with ultrasonic record washing machine. Then covers get restored via professional studio artists who restore old black and white photos.
Digital restoration:
I do backup all the records digitally to obtain the best digital extract and to keep the record in storage. By doing this I don't wear the records by listening to it all the time. This process done in stages and in categories. All mono recordings digitally captured separately as well as all 78 Rpm records. This is to obtain the best digital extract. And the raw Wav files get processed and cleaned below 60hz for hum, click, crackle and noise. Some of our sample albums can be listen to hear the difference. All files are high bit rate with dynamic range.
Archiving:
All records get catalogued and transferred all details into a internal database with current copies in circulation. All records get stored in dust proof and climate controlled environment.
